Toyota Prius a Winner at Drive Car of the Year Awards

Toyota’s fuel-efficient 3rd generation Prius has been presented with its first two major Australian awards by the Fairfax media group.

Nine of Australia’s most senior motoring journalists have voted Prius as the winner of the prestigious Green Innovation Award, as well as the People’s Choice Award in the 2009 Drive Car of the Year awards.

Judges said Prius was an innovative and practical family car that continued to set a benchmark for fuel-efficient motoring. They said Toyota was instrumental in developing hybrid technology and paving the way for most other major car manufactures to follow suit.

Prius has become a more mainstream vehicle in the Australian market and has developed over the years into a practical, innovative family car and has reinvented the transition of passenger cars from conventional power to hybrid delivery.
